Who Can Apply

Anyone with lived experience of stroke either as a survivor or caregiver is eligible to apply. As the Awards are aligned with awareness activities, consent to participate in communications activities is essential.

20 Voices Awards Criteria

All nominees/applicants will be assessed using the following criteria.

Impact

We want to identify individuals who have contributed to measurable or visible change to stroke awareness, services, policy or research.

Advocacy & Voice

Using personal lived-experience to drive understanding and action on stroke.

Leadership & Initiative

Demonstrates leadership by initiating or leading organizations, programs or activities locally, nationally or internationally.

Reach & Influence

Using lived experience and influence online and offline to drive visibility of stroke and the needs of stroke survivors and caregivers.

Alignment

Advocacy and awareness effort is aligned with the principles of the WSO Global Stroke Bill of Rights.

Ethics & Integrity

Demonstrate a clear ethical approach in their activities, aligning individual experience to drive wider improvement, without discrimination.

Scoring and shortlisting will be undertaken by the 20 Voices Working Group and delegates within the WSO Campaign and SSO Committees.

20 Voices shortlist candidates will be informed by September 4th.
The 20 Voices shortlist will be publicly announced on Oct 2nd.
The 20 Voices global winner will be announced on World Stroke Day, Oct 29th.
All 20 Voices will feature in WSO communications including a public exhibition, website, newsletter and social media content. More detailed consent will be requested for this if you are selected. Please only submit a nomination if you are happy to be featured in WSO campaign communication.
The name of every nominee will feature on this website 20 Voices Roll of Honor.
