World Stroke Campaign Peru 2023 The National Institute of Neurological Sciences (Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurológicas), together with the Ministry of Health of Peru (Ministerio de Salud del Perú) will organize a Stroke Campaign across the country from Monday 23 to Sunday 29, October 2023. The aim of this campaign, according to the World Stroke Organization, is to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and the benefits of timely access to emergency medical care. The campaign also emphasized the importance of stroke prevention. #WorldStrokeDay #GreaterThan We will develop the following activities: Education in stroke through Telehealth We will organize daily virtual stroke webinars nationwide for the community members to show stroke messages about prevention, awareness of signs and symptoms of stroke, and the need for urgent treatment from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th. Entrance to the playing field of stadiums at the Peruvian Professional Soccer League: League 1 On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 we will enter the playing fields of 7 stadiums nationwide carrying banners showing the messages of the campaign, on the last date of the Professional Peruvian soccer championship with the participation of more than 50,000 attendees in the Universitario de Deportes Club Stadium given that soccer is the most popular sport in Peru. League 1 will also collaborate to post the campaign banners on their social networks. Some famous soccer players will also collaborate with the campaign with short messages. Prehospital care simulation for stroke patients The National Institute of Neurological Sciences together with the Mobile Emergency Care System (SAMU), our national system for prehospital patients’ transportation, will organize a simulation of stroke symptoms and patient transportation at a public space in two different places at Jesus María District, on Thursday 26 and at Ate District on Friday 27 in Lima with the participation of community members who will see the simulation and will receive information about stroke messages. Medical campaign against stroke Around 300 people will benefit from a neurological consult, screening for glucose, cholesterol, and triglycerides, stroke prevention counseling, and workshops in nutrition, neuropsychology, and rehabilitation. There will be also recreational activities given by school students as typical Peruvian dances and music. It will be held at Santo Domingo El Apóstol School at San Miguel District in Lima on Saturday 28. Parade in the Magical Water Circuit in Lima In the afternoon of World Stroke Day, November 29, we will organize a parade inside the Magic Water Circuit of Lima there will participate the stroke center teams and most of the workers of the National Institute of Neurological Sciences, students from Santo Domingo El Apostol School, and different delegations carrying banners with the messages of the campaign. During the parade, we also had live TV interviews where we will explain the campaign's purpose nationwide. Artistical evening in the Magical Water Circuit in Lima In the night of World Stroke Day, November 29 we will organize an artistical event at Magical Water Circuit (Circuito Mágico del Agua) in Lima. This activity will consist of the illumination of all water fountains with the colors of the campaign, blue and green, and the presentation of famous singers and artists. We will also project videos about the campaign in the central fountain during the whole week of the campaign celebration. This activity will have the attendance of more than 20,000 people each day. Dissemination through the media and social networks We will post messages about the stroke campaign given by influencers (famous singers and soccer players) and Stroke Neurologists through Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Famous singer messages will be possible due to a collaboration of the Peruvian Association of Actors and Composers, Asociación Peruana de Actores y Compositores (APDAYC) We will release news for print, broadcast, and online news media. We will participate in interviews in media such as radio, TV, and newspapers spreading messages about stroke prevention, early identification of symptoms, and the need to act as quickly as possible.
