We initiated our activities on October 21, with a Stroke Awareness conference to middle school students, titled “Protect your family from Stroke”, were, through interaction with students, we promoted the knowledge and understanding of basic stroke concepts like “FAST strategy” and the importance of a healthy lifestyle for risk reduction of future stroke, as well as touring for students of CIDICS (Center of Investigation and Development in Health Sciences, by its acronym in Spanish) departments, such as the Neuromodulation and Cerebral Plasticity unit.

Then, from the 24 to 29th of October, we implemented an open public campaign titled “Detection of risk factors and measurement of stroke risk” in the external consult of University’s Hospital “Jose Eleuterio González”, were we interacted with patients and family members who attended to hospital grounds for free somatometry, measurement of vital signs, and application of “Stroke Riskometer”, a validated questionnaire promoted by worldwide stroke organizations, like WSO, WSO, between others. Also, on the first day of this campaign patients and their family members were individually invited to the Neurology’s auditorium for a short conference on “Early detection and risk factors of stroke” with a Neurology professor. After this, on October 30, we conducted and participated in a Walk, Run and Interaction, titled “The 3C’s for stroke”, (by its acronym in Spanish) in the Athletics Course within Hospital’s vicinity with patients and stroke survivors, family members, students, and Neurology’s faculty, for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and its implication in stroke risk reduction. Finally, on October 31, we had our annual conference for medical professionals and non-medical community, the “XIII Course of Pre-Hospital, Hospital and Nursery care of Stroke”, carried out in the multipurpose auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, UANL.
