26.09.24 - Morocco
On September 26th, the staff and research team of the Neurology Unit of the University Medical Hospital Hassan II in Fez, Morocco, and the Khatawat Association organized the Stroke Awareness Run in Ain Chkef Forest. The event had two objectives: (1) to reach out to people in the community to raise awareness of stroke symptoms summarized in the Moroccan Arabic acronym "3te9", and (2) to educate people on the importance of physical activity for stroke prevention. After the run, the residents and research team distributed bottles of water to a large number of people in the community, explained the symptoms of stroke in simple and clear language, and encouraged people to commit to some kind of physical activity through October.
