Dia Mundial de ACV

29.10.25 - Argentina
Our campaign will be aimed at both students and educators, especially secondary school students, and will include activities focused on preventing risk factors, early recognition of signs and symptoms, and stroke treatment. Our goal is to address and raise awareness about risk factors. The most important of these is high blood pressure, but there are other important factors that we must take into account and address: smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, alcohol and illegal drug use, among others. Worldwide, stroke is the leading cause of neurological disability and the second leading cause of death after heart attacks. In Argentina, approximately 180 strokes occur per 100,000 inhabitants; 72,000 new cases every year and 8 cases every hour. A study conducted by AAAC and FENERI found that 34.1% of the population surveyed in the City of Buenos Aires could not spontaneously name a warning sign of a stroke. To this end, the activity will focus on an interactive Giant Brain and various educational booths that will provide participatory learning about how to take blood pressure, the importance of a healthy diet, and regular physical activity.
