The month of June was filled with meaningful activities following the historic stroke resolution adopted at the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
World Stroke Organization – China Stroke Action Plan Neuroprotection Conference
Stroke experts gathered in Beijing on June 6–7 for an important conference focused on neuroprotection in stroke. More than 10 international experts and approximately 50 participants from across China came together to discuss future directions and opportunities for collaborative research in neuroprotection.
The meeting was organized by the China Academy of Medical Sciences under the leadership of Prof. Ji Xunming and Prof. Shen Li.

Advancing Stroke Care Excellence in China
I had the privilege of conducting assessments of leading institutions participating in the World Stroke Organization (WSO) China Stroke Action Plan – Stroke Center Certification Program. I sincerely thank Prof. Ji Xunming and Prof. Shen Li of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences for their leadership and commitment in implementing this important initiative.
The centers assessed included:
These centers exemplify excellence in stroke care, managing a high volume of stroke patients while maintaining outstanding clinical standards. Their achievements reflect not only strong infrastructure and clinical expertise but also a deep commitment to innovation, quality improvement, and better patient outcomes.

Indian Academy of Neurology Outreach Subsection Webinar
On June 13, I had the opportunity to deliver a lecture at an Indian Academy of Neurology Outreach Subsection webinar titled "Historic Moment for Stroke: What the WHA79 Resolution Means for India and Beyond."
During the webinar, I highlighted the significance of the stroke resolution for the neurology community in India and discussed its potential impact on strengthening stroke care systems. I emphasized that the National Stroke Action Plan and the WHA79 Stroke Resolution can work synergistically to drive substantial improvements in stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term care across India.
Together, these initiatives provide a unique opportunity to accelerate progress toward equitable, high-quality stroke care for all and to reduce the growing burden of stroke in the country.
