The UN

WSO is a non-State actor in Official Relations with WHO, and supports the work of UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in driving progress on Sustainable Develop Goals. Representation of stroke at this global policy level represents a major advancement for the stroke patient and professional community and for the worldwide effort to address stroke.

WSO s a non-State actor in Official Relations with WHO. Ongoing collaborations with this UN agency inlcude include, stroke surveillance, the production of stroke awareness materials, and the development of combined sessions and symposia at international conferences. We also provide advice on stroke treatments for inclusion in the Essential Medicines Model List, improving access to effective stroke treatments.

WSO is also granted consultative status by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Hearts Collaboration

WSO and the WHO Hearts Technical Package

This package supports Ministries of Health to strengthen heart and circulatory disease management in primary health care settings. The practical, step-by step modules are supported by an overarching technical document that provides a rationale and framework for this integrated approach to the management of NCDs, including stroke.
