Hypoxic-ischemic brain injury is a neurological disorder and is one of the most common and potentially devastating complications of cardiac arrest. Neurologic status and degree of brain injury are the main determinant of long-term functional status, besides the emotional burden incurred to families and financial costs associated with long-term care for neurologic devastated patients.
