More than 100 centers across 28 countries are now registered on the new WSO certification platform, a significant step forward in strengthening standardized stroke care worldwide. This builds on the seven centers already certified, and reflects growing confidence in a structured, evidence-based approach to quality improvement.
The strongest engagement to date comes from China, with more than 50 centers registered, followed by South Africa (7 centers) and Nepal (6 centers), demonstrating commitment across diverse healthcare settings.
Certification is designed to support all hospitals, large or small, public or private, in LMICs or high-income countries. Regardless of context, a clear, data-driven framework helps institutions standardize processes, strengthen systems of care, and progress toward recognized quality benchmarks.
At the national level, WSO has finalized alignment with NABH in India, with formal signing of the MoU expected this month. In Egypt, collaboration planning with GAHAR is advancing. The next phase will focus on assessor training and structured implementation to ensure consistency, and sustainability. In addition, WSO has initiated discussions with national stroke champions in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with implementation planning underway to support structured national engagement.
To further strengthen oversight and expertise, 12 new members have been appointed to the WSO Certification Committee from across the world, reinforcing the program’s breadth of experience and international leadership.
Stroke care may be delivered within different healthcare systems but it should be guided by a single, evidence-based standard. WSO certification continues to provide that shared framework, supporting measurable improvement and better patient outcomes.
