World Stroke Day on October 29th 2025 comes just weeks after the 4th UN High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) on September 25th — a pivotal moment that will shape the global agenda for NCDs, including stroke, for years to come. Keeping stroke at the forefront of these discussions is the focus of the WSO-convened Global Stroke Action Coalition and its Every Minute Counts advocacy campaign.
The timing presents an unmissable opportunity to amplify our message. This year, World Stroke Day will enhance the Every Minute Counts campaign with public-facing messaging focused on helping people everywhere recognize the signs of stroke and the urgent need to #ActFAST. It’s also a chance to mobilize a broader audience to demand government action on the policy recommendations outlined in #StrokeActionNow.
Our focus for World Stroke Day 2025:
WSO will spotlight the life-saving importance of knowing the signs of stroke — building on the Every Minute Counts theme — and share two clear calls to action:
-
Know the signs of stroke and be ready to #ActFAST.
-
Sign the Global Stroke Action Letter of Support and add your voice to our call for governments to commit to #StrokeActionNow.
A comprehensive resource toolkit, including social media posts, key messages, and creative assets, will be shared with WSO members and partners in late July/early August.
As part of this year’s campaign, we’re also planning to produce a series of compelling videos featuring stroke survivors from around the world whose awareness of the signs made all the difference. These will be developed in collaboration with the WSO Cares network. We encourage all WSO members to source similar “stroke spotting” stories from their own networks and share them on social media.
To support local campaigns and co-branding, we’re also creating World Stroke Day GIFs, which members can add to their own content to reinforce awareness of the signs of stroke. Plus, our interactive www.strokespotter.org game will be refreshed and relaunched as a fun, engaging tool for use on social media and at World Stroke Day events.
Together, we can drive meaningful action — because we all know when it comes to stroke Every Minute Counts.
