On 25 September, world leaders will gather in New York for the fourth UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs). A critical moment in the future of population health, the decisions made at this meeting will determine how countries —and the world— shape their response to today's most urgent and pressing health challenges. The resulting plans will not be complete unless stroke is addressed as a top priority.
As convenors of the Global Stroke Action Coalition, we are asking stroke stakeholders- survivors, clincians, heatlhcare professionals and healthcare organizations around the world - to add your voice to our call for #StrokeActionNow. Here are some ways you can help us to turn up the pressure on policy makers ahead of the UN General Assembly Meeting on NCDs:
Are you a stroke survivor, friend, family member, caregiver or health professional?
Every voice counts. Add yours by signing our online Letter of Support, sharing the campaign on social media, and sending a signed copy to your Minister of Health.
Do you lead a health or civil society organization?
Endorse our call for Stroke Action Now and the five asks outlined in the Global Stroke Action Coalition policy brief. Endorsing organizations can download and display a formal Coalition badge on their website and social media, and will be featured on our campaign website.
Help spread the word in your communities!
The louder our collective global call, the greater the pressure on governments to act. Help raise the volume by sharing our message on your own channels and working with friends, networks and institutions to make sure that our call to action cannot be ignored. You can access resources to support engagement in the call to action on the Global Stroke Action Coalition campaign website.
