The WSO Stroke Center Certification Program continues to expand globally, with 130 hospitals across 31 countries currently registered and progressing through different stages of certification application. China leads participation with 67 hospitals engaged in the program, reflecting strong national momentum to strengthen stroke systems of care.
WSO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) in India to implement the joint NABH-WSO Stroke Centre Certification program, promoting standardized, evidence-based stroke care across public and private hospitals. Technical modalities are currently being finalized, with rollout planned this month.
In Egypt, collaboration with GAHAR has advanced with the completion of assessor training, and operational modalities for country-level implementation are being finalized.
WSO is also progressing partnerships in Indonesia and the Philippines to support the implementation of WSO-approved stroke center certification and strengthen national capacity for certification and quality improvement.
To support certified centers, WSO is developing a certification toolkit that will include official certification branding assets and communication templates for websites, press releases, and social media to help hospitals announce and showcase their achievement. Certified centers will also receive one year of complimentary WSO membership for the stroke center lead, providing access to the International Journal of Stroke, World Stroke Academy educational resources, and member benefits such as reduced registration fees for the World Stroke Congress.
