After three incredibly successful and impactful program cohorts, we're thrilled to announce that the Future Stroke Leaders Programme will return for Cohort 4!

The Future Stroke Leaders Programme is opening a call for nominations and applications to the WSO leadership development programme (Cohort 4). We invite individuals with the potential to lead the transformation of stroke prevention, treatment, and support at various levels. The two- year WSO Future Stroke Leaders programme will equip a global cohort of early career clinicians and researchers with an in-depth understanding of key challenges in relation to stroke and how these can be addressed within diverse stroke care systems.

Programme Highlights:

Bi-monthly online sessions led by a faculty of global experts.
Leadership training and mentoring.

Two face-to-face programs: Early 2027 and graduation during World Stroke Congress 2028.

Seed-funded practical projects mentored by WSO, culminating in a presentation at World Stroke Congress 2028.

Free registration for one World Stroke Congress.

WSO engagements: article writing, group projects, WSA learning material developments.

Programme Costs:

The programme will cover all costs except travel. Also included is one free registration for WSC. Successful applicants are expected to fund their own travel to WSC and to the two in-person workshops; however, those from LMICs will be reimbursed 50% for their travel expenses.

Selection Interviews: April - June 2026
Successful Applicants Informed: July 2026
Start Date: November 2026
End Date: October 2028

Application Requirements: All applicants must be WSO members. Interested individuals are requested to provide a one-page letter outlining their vision (specific

achievable objectives for stroke care improvements), expectations, and motivation for participation. The application should include a letter from the candidate's institution, organization, or department confirming support and commitment to providing the necessary time for program participation. Candidates applying for the programme should have support from a suitable mentor. Finally, a short biographical note and a recent photograph should be included.
