WSO CARES – Committee for Advocating Real Experiences of Stroke
Who are we?
We are people who have personal and direct experience of stroke who are collaborating with researchers and health professionals.
We believe that people with personal and direct experience of stroke must be involved in improving stroke awareness and care, and strategic and research priorities.
We are a steering group established with the World Stroke Organization.
We are Stacie Broek, Gamze Öztürk, Marco Giovannoli, Prakasham Thangaveloo, Alexia Kountouri, Marina Charalambous, Shamala Thilarajah, Marika Demers, Sarah Belson.
Our purpose is to:
Build a global community of people with lived experience.
Engage the collective, personal and direct experiences of stroke.
Drive advocacy and influence stroke care policy globally.
Our activities will include:
Enhancing the visibility and influence of people with lived experience in shaping internal and external policies, stroke research and practice.
Supporting WSO’s strategic priority to facilitate the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience across its activities.
Developing a structure for engaging a global network of people with lived experience.
