Associate Professor Xin Cheng, born in 1980, is Chief Physician and Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology, Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, National Center for Neurological Disorders, Shanghai, China.

Training: She received her MD from Shanghai Medical College Fudan University (previously Shanghai Medical University) in 2003, and PhD from Fudan University in 2009. She had a research fellowship in Alzheimer’s disease at Sun Health Research Institute, AZ, USA from Nov. 2007 to Dec. 2008. She had her clinical observership at Neurology Department, Massachusetts General Hospital, MA, USA from Sep. to Dec. 2015.

Research areas: She is particularly interested in neuroimaging and treatment of acute ischemic stroke, and cerebral small vessel disease. She has established several hospital-based and community-based cohorts, and is leading several ongoing national multicenter randomized controlled trials: CHABLIS-T, CHABLIS-T II and ASPIRING-Pilot.

Awards: She has been awarded American Academy of Neurology’s 2009 and 2010 International Scholarship Award, World Stroke Organization (WSO) 2012 Young Physician’s Scholarship, WSO 2017 Young Stroke Professional Brief Clinical Exchange Scholarship and 2015 Shanghai Rising-Star Program.

Professional: She is a member of cerebrovascular group at Chinese Society of Neurology, Chinese Medical Association, Vice Chair of Society of cerebral small vessel disease, Chinese Stroke Association, and member of Standing Committee at Chinese Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, and member of Standing Youth Committee, Stroke Prevention Project, National Health Commission.

Publications & Grants: She authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including Lancet Neurology, Annals of Neurology, Neurology etc., 3 books and 7 national guidelines or expert consensus. She has been the principal investigator of eight grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education of China, Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, and Shanghai Hospital Development Center.
